Setting Up 2FA

TorrinPass includes a built-in 2FA authenticator. Here’s how to set it up for your accounts.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security. Even if someone knows your password, they can’t log in without the 2FA code.

  1. Log into the website (e.g., Google, GitHub)
  2. Go to Security Settings
  3. Find “Two-Factor Authentication” or “2-Step Verification”
  4. Choose “Authenticator App”
  5. The website will show a QR code
  1. Open TorrinPass
  2. Find the password entry for that website
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Tap Add 2FA
  5. Scan the QR code
  1. TorrinPass shows a 6-digit code
  2. Enter this code on the website
  3. The website confirms 2FA is enabled

Most websites provide backup codes. Save these in TorrinPass notes or a secure location.

When logging into a 2FA-protected account:

  1. Enter your username and password
  2. The website asks for a 2FA code
  3. Open TorrinPass
  4. Find the account
  5. The 2FA code is displayed automatically
  6. Tap to copy, or enter manually

  • Google — Security → 2-Step Verification
  • Microsoft — Security → Two-step verification
  • GitHub — Settings → Password and authentication
  • Amazon — Account → Login & security
  • Facebook — Settings → Security and Login
  • Twitter/X — Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication

  1. Check your device’s time is correct (Settings → General → Date & Time → Set Automatically)
  2. Make sure you’re using the code before it expires (30 seconds)
  3. Try the next code if the current one just expired

Use the backup codes provided when you set up 2FA. Each code can only be used once.
